THE COUSINS MANIFESTO
THE COUSINS MANIFESTO — ONE OF ONE
A sentence found on a wall became a piece of clothing.
In 2016, the graffiti “If we are cousins, then what’s the fucking problem?” was photographed and kept as a memory. Years later, while the world continued to repeat the same divisions and conflicts, the words felt impossible to forget.
So RealBusyWear turned them into a garment.
Handmade from cowhide leather with a cotton lining, The Cousins Manifesto is a reversible one-of-one cape designed somewhere between streetwear, couture and wearable art.
The original sentence is translated onto the leather through custom flocking and hand-finished graphics, transforming something once seen anonymously on a wall into a piece meant to be carried on the body.
Its construction allows the cape to be worn in several ways: draped over the shoulders, styled as an oversized sculptural collar, layered over a dress or outfit, or reversed to reveal its second side.
A sculptural metal closure holds the garment together while allowing its silhouette to change depending on how it is worn.
Part clothing.
Part memory.
Part manifesto.
A reminder that underneath borders, histories and divisions, there is still something painfully simple:
If we are cousins, then what’s the fucking problem?
